Project Description
Undergrowth is a Game that I developed with three other people in three days during Global Game Jam 2021. This game is in the beta phase.
Lost in a forest, you must make your way out and back to civilization, all while searching for magical Gemstones. Watch out for the monkeys!
Made for Global Game Jam 2021, under Ferris State University, Team9.
Responsibilities
During the three days we had to work on this, I developed the Lightning mechanic, Dog AI and functionality, UI functionality & Animations, the Fireball Mechanic, the Flight Mechanic, and the melee. I also helped with the enemy AI.
The main mechanics that I am proud of are the Lightning and the Dog Summon. When you press R, a cloud will spawn above where you are pointing the reticle. After a few seconds, a lightning bolt will strike the ground below.
When you press the Q key, the player will summon a Golem Dog to fight alongside them. The dog will follow the player and stay within his general vicinity. The dog can summon four rocks, which will idly float above it until the dog is ready to attack. When in range of an enemy, the dog will throw rocks at it one after another until the enemy is dead. When the dog runs out of rocks, it will summon more.
